“Lucy’s Dad: Ash Bartholomew’s inspiring story at Western States 100” is a brand new brief movie following the journey of 61-year-old Australian ultrarunner Ash Bartholomew, dad to Salomon athlete Lucy Bartholomew, as he follows his life-long dream of working the Western States 100 in 2023.
In 2018, already two years into coming into the draw for the revered race, Ash traveled to California to assist Lucy in her Western States 100 debut, the place she took third place. 5 years on, it was his flip to take heart stage.
The race brings collectively the total Bartholomew clan — who had not all been collectively in 10 years — in an effort to assist their dad, and get him throughout the road throughout the race’s 30-hour cutoff time.
The movie is an emotional curler coaster, because the day begins in a most idyllic means for Ash, supported by his three kids and fulfilling his dream. However within the second half he begins to wrestle, and it’s a battle towards the clock as crowds collect round him within the last miles, in an effort to get him house. The group effort exemplifies the spirit of ultrarunning.
With insights from Ash, sons Josh and Tom, daughter Lucy, and household mates — the movie is as a lot about humanity as it’s about working.
